Personal Vs Shared Workspaces

Overview

Decode uses one shared workspace for your organisation, with multiple teams inside it. You can work within existing teams or create a new team for your own work.

Teams help you organise your work and control who can access it. You can only see the studies, files, and folders created within the teams you belong to.

If you create a new team, you can use it as your own private working space for drafts, exploratory studies, or other work.

How Decode is organised

Workspace

Your workspace is a dedicated account created at the organisation level. You can invite multiple team members to the same workspace and create multiple teams within it. Each team can have its own members, studies, files, and folders

Teams

Teams are groups within your workspace. Every workspace starts with a Default Team, and you can create additional teams based on your needs.

You can use different teams to organise work for different groups, projects, or purposes.

Studies, files, and folders

Studies, files, and folders are created within the team you are currently working in. You can view, create, edit, or manage them based on your role and permissions within that team.

Home Team and Other Teams

Every user has:

  • Home Team: The team you land in when you log in. You can change it from Settings β†’ Profile β†’ Home Team.
Other Teams: Additional teams you have been added to. You can find them under Settings β†’ Profile β†’ Other Teams and switch between them using the team switcher on top.

Create your own private working space

If you want a separate space for your own drafts or exploratory work, you can create a new team and keep it limited to yourself.

  1. Go to Settings β†’ Teams.
  2. Click + Add Team.
  3. Enter a name for the team using the team name field at the top of the team page.
  4. Do not add any other members.

Only you will see the studies, files, and folders created in that team.

Note: Workspace Owners and Admins manage teams and team membership. A team with only you as a member can be used as a private working space.

Share work with your organisation

Teams help you organise your work and collaborate with others in your organisation.

  • Working with an existing team: Join the team where the studies, files, and folders you need are available.
  • Creating a team for your group: Create a new team and add the people who need to work together. You can then create and manage your studies within that team.
  • Managing access: Add team members based on who needs access to the studies, files, and folders within that team.

Teams and roles control different things in Decode:

Teams determine what content you can see and access and Roles determine what actions you can perform within the workspace.

Decode supports the following roles:

  • Owner
  • Admin
  • Manager
  • Auditor
  • Viewer

Your role is assigned when you are invited to the workspace and can be changed later.
